You’re Invited!

You are invited! Yes, you! You are invited to be part of something bigger than yourself. You are invited to join others in work of renewal and transformation. You are invited to experience God. You are invited into Lent.
Wednesday, March 1 at 6 pm we will gather in the sanctuary for a contemplative service of scripture, song, and prayer. We will receive the ashes, and we will commit to 40 days of spiritual work. Every year, around this time, we are invited into this 40 day season leading up to Easter Day. We are invited to dive into the spiritual opening ourselves up to the movement of the Holy Spirit so that we are ready to celebrate the Resurrection and go forth as Easter people! This year, I hope you will accept your invitation and create spaces for a spiritual Lent. Curious about how this looks? Not sure what to do? Don’t know how to say yes to the invite? Main Street is here for you! A lot of people mark the season of Lent by giving something up, but this year I would like us as a church to mark this season in a different way. At Main Street, we are a congregation experiencing God as we worship, deepen our faith, and serve and what better time than Lent to fully live into this mission. So, you are invited this Lent to Experience God by committing to:
• Worship
o During Lent, you are invited to 9 worship experiences beginning Ash Wednesday and ending Good Friday. I hope you will accept the invitation.
• Deepen Your Faith
o Every Sunday during Lent, as we focus on prayer in worship, you will be given a daily guide to aid you in your own prayer time these 40 days.
o Our Facebook Page will post a prayer a day each day of Lent
o Sign up for a slot in our 24 Hour Prayer Vigil: Begins Midnight Good Friday (4/14) and ends midnight Holy Saturday (4/15)
o I hope you will accept the invitation to experience God through prayer this season.
• Serve/Give
o Our Confirmation class invites you to join with them in raising awareness and funds for Imagine No Malaria. Inside you will find a calendar with a daily activity to aid you with this mission. Each day of Lent, you will have a different task, and you are invited to bring the funds you have collected to worship with you Easter Day. I hope you will accept the Confirmands invitation to experience God this Lenten season as you serve and give.

You have been invited! May we indeed be a people this Lent who experiences God as we worship, deepen our faith, and serve! May we have a holy and spiritual Lent!
