Children are an important part within the life of the church at Main Street. We want to create a space that engages, teaches, and empowers our children, and provides families with resources to nurture the faith of their family at home. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the children’s ministries at Main Street.

Are their children’s programs offered during worship?

We have a nursery available in our Education Building for children birth to 4 years. We feel that worship is an experience for the entire family so we do not offer a children’s church for older children however the second Sunday of every month, children ages 5 through 3rd grade are invited to engage in their own worship experience in Rebecca Hall. Each month will focus on a different “act” of worship and aid the children in understanding why it is we do what we do. Children leave the sanctuary after the children’s moment and may be picked up after the service in Rebecca Hall (a fellowship space beside our sanctuary).

Where do I go if I am a first time visitor?

Simply join us in the sanctuary at 10 am (there are doors leading into the sanctuary from Main Street and Second Street), and a greeter will be on hand to direct you to the appropriate room.

How is my child’s safety assured?

Main Street follows the guidelines laid out in our Safe Sanctuaries policies. Everyone who works with children or youth at Main Street United Methodist Church must undergo a backgroud check, and at least two adults are present with children and youth at all times. In our nursery, a volunteer is also always on hand as well as our paid nursery worker. If you have further questions regarding our Safe Sanctuaries policies, please speak to the pastor.

What other ministries are offered for children?

We have a Sunday School for children ages 5 through 3rd grade and a separate class for ages 4th through 6th grade that meet in our Education Building at 9 am. Children use the Deep Blue Curriculum. We are currently taking a break from Sunday School!

We have special seasonal events for Fall, Christmas, and Easter as well as monthly gatherings in the summer including Vacation Bible School. Please visit the calendar to see what may be going on for children in the life of Main Street United Methodist Church.
